Hello stalwart crew! Here's the minutes from last month's meeting and the agenda for next week. Please let me know if there's anything that needs to be added to the agenda.
Pete T.
Gray Solid Waste & Recycling Committee
Meeting Minutes for Wednesday,
November 14th, 2007, 5:30 p.m., Stimson Hall
1. Review of monthly Transfer Station Data.
*Mixed plastic was sent out on 11/8 and returned on 11/14. Randy placed call to the broker to try to rectify the problem, as load was checked by the broker.
*Roofing - specifically shingles - is to be shipped in November.
*Wood may be shipped to Quebec, still nothing concrete about it though.
* Local Boyscout troop will be handing out flyers on Transfer Station data on the first weekend of December.
2. Trash Talk articles: Updated schedule.
*Peter T. will be writing an article for nominations for ecomaine eco excellence award this coming weekend. To that end, nominations need to be in by January 2008.
* Jewel M. will be writing an article on separating Christmas recycling that will be published the week before Christmas.
* Miscellaneous: Planet Aid Boxes are now at the Transfer Station. These boxes are for clothing and shoes only.
3. Transfer Station expansion project update.
*Randy is to meet on 11/15 with the engineers from Oest Engineering in reference to extending the existing recycling shed. New fencing will be erected at some point between the Sand and Salt Shed and in the direction of the Hopper shed. Hopper will stay in the present location. The recycling shed will gain space for a horizontal bailer in addition to indoor storage space for tin, corrugated cardboard, mixed paper and newspaper. The existing bailers will be used for plastics - there will be no need to store plastics in the shed when this project is finished. Projected date for expansion still to be determined. There is potential for the traffic flow to improve.
*If opportunity presents itself for comments to the town counsel on this subject, the committee should make their presence known. All in agreement on that statement.
4. Adjourn
