Gray Cable TV Committee Minutes
February 6, 2006
Items discussed:
1. Upcoming franchise agreement negotiations with Time Warner Cable.
2. Requests for proposals to upgrade the current sound system in Stimson Hall. The discussion included the need to have the sound system compatible with both vocal and instrumental uses. If replaced, the current sound system would be moved to Newbegin Gymnasium for use by the Recreation Department and at other public events that took place in that venue. Two of three vendors have responded and are developing requests for proposals to complete this work.
3. The need to record Town Council, School Board and Council workshop meetings so they maybe down streamed and be available to people who do not have cable television but may have computer access to the internet.
4. Seeking out help so other town committee meetings may be broadcast live. The Committee would like to obtain help to start broadcasting Planning Board meetings in March. The Committee approved a fee of $7.00 per hour for performing this work.
5. Sharing the cost of purchasing flags representing the various armed services of the United States. These flags would be used in the Memorial Day parade, Veterans’ Day activities, Flag Day and other public function which the Committee has been involved with in the past and broadcast many of these events live.
6. Planning for the broadcast of the Memorial Day parade.
7. Sponsoring a video contest open to all people living and or working in Gray whose topic would be: Gray – a great place to build your home and build your business. Contest rules will be developed over the next month.
8. Proposals to upgrade the computer network within Stimson Hall; and voted to move forward with purchasing the necessary equipment to do so.
Next meeting will be the first Monday of March at Stimson Hall starting at 6:30 p.m.
