Notes
Members present: Lance Tlumac, Tom Delaney, Jack Goosetrey, Don Hutchings, Lew Mancini, Jeanne Carpentier, Tracy Scheckel, Dick Barter and Council Liaison Peter Gellerson.
Absent: Dick Barter
Guests: From GNGBA Leo Credit, Nathan Tsukroff, and Al Warren. From New Gloucester CEDC Paul First and David McClellan, Ellie Espling ( Maine House of Representative candidate )
Jeanne brought the meeting to order at 6:36 pm. Introductions were made around the table.
A general discussion ensued about the background of the GNGBA and the CEDC efforts in 2009 and how Gray and New Gloucester may attempt to attract business development together.
Leo credit discussed signage in both communities being used to increase awareness of business in both towns, i.e. the Pineland Campus.
Ellie mentioned Maine & Co. as being a business recruiter for the State of Maine.
A lengthy discussion ensued about the process of attracting new businesses to Gray and New Gloucester. Leo suggested supporting the creation of an economic development corporation.
Peter suggested reconvening the same group in January and invite more GNGBA members and to be certain to have George Thebarge in attendance.
Action items:
1. Pete to carry thoughts to the town council and town manager.
2. Have CEDC members attend NG CEDC meeting on January 11th.
3. Bring your vision of GNG to the next joint meeting on January 20, 2010.
4. Begin goal setting for 2010 for Gray CEDC
5. Come up with a strengths and weaknesses analysis of the two towns business development opportunities.
