- Monument Square Master Planning update.
George and Dennis reviewed the steps that will be taken to market the charette. This includes postcard mailings around the end of October, news releases, letters to stakeholders.
About 10 facilitators will be needed for the small group sessions- Anne will organize this. Facilitators will need some training on group skills management, the day’s agenda. This will occur in the morning before the session begins- around 7:45 AM.
Rick will help recruit design professionals who can help small groups with sketches.
George will collect all the needed materials and will work with Deb around the set up of tables- breakout sessions will be held in different rooms as necessary.
The group reviewed the slide show one more time and discussed any final revisions.
Rick will look into whether the G-NGHS service club might help with food and clean-up.
Dean Bennett will provide child care. Parents will be charged $1/hour/kid to help cover the cost of snacks and supplies. We will encourage people to pre-register for this so we know how many care providers will be needed.
We will encourage people to pre-register for the charette - George, Deb, and Ed will work on this.
- Review of a public-private partnership proposal from the Gray-New Gloucester Development Corporation relating to the Northbrook Business & Industrial Campus- For Area 3 of the Gray Comprehensive Plan
George reviewed the potential letter of agreement between the town of Gray and Northbrook Business Park- “For a Public-Private Partnership To Prepare and Advance a Master Development Plan.” Some discussion followed.
Northbrook wants to put in a 35,000 SF building for high tech manufacturing. They would prefer to do this in Gray but would also consider doing this in Auburn if it can’t work out a deal in Gray.
There was discussion about the need to include a provision for marketing in the letter of agreement.
CEDC will meet again at 6:30 PM on Nov. 3rd to finalize the letter.
- (Time Permitting) Update on MDOT signage
With the help of State Rep Sue Austin, Deb Cabana was able to secure a meeting with the Maine Dept of Transportation to discuss signage. The meeting will be held on Friday, October 29 at 9 AM.
