The November 16, 2010 meeting of the Gray Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 6:35 pm. Present were Glenn, Jody, Steve, Joyce, Marie and Dick.
The minutes of the October meeting were approved as sent via e-mail.
The Director's report showed October was not overly busy although there was a 1% increase over October 2009. Snapshot Day was held November 9. Volunteers tallied 218 visits to the library.
Invitations were received for Open House to be held Saturday, December 11.
The status of the Service Brochure was reported.
A November 9, power point presentation before the Town Council was reported. Emphasized was the GPLA's involvement in library changes which were shown. MP3 and e-books updates were addressed. A plea went out for volunteers to help with the library reconfiguration and painting on November 20 and 21. Discussed was the Open House that offers an outreach to the community. The Town Council will be kept abreast of library changes.
Jody suggested targeting young readers at the Open House. She questions, and will look into, a school bus transporting the young readers of approximately Middle School age to the library. Marie suggested using Kathy George's expertise for enticing young readers.
Marie and Glenn will meet to update the previous year's Capital Improvement Plan.
In response to the IRS e-file, Marie reported the downside being the library cannot afford to pay for the downloads. She will contact other library directors to learn how to handle the e-forms here.
Marie provided the Trustees with a time line for changes at the library. An inventory of books has been postponed until after reconfiguration. Marie and her husband will inventory on a Sunday using a DVD as a dry run for added inventory.
A question was raised as to how the library will fit into the Town's Comprehensive Strategic Plan. The Trustees would like input form the public. Dick gave a brief summary on the development of the Town of Gray. Jody suggested attending planning meetings. No definite decision was made. At the next meeting ideas for the Library's “Visions for the Future” will be investigated.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm.
