Gray Public Library Trustees Minutes, February 2011

The February 7, 2011, meeting of the Gray Public Library Trustees was called to order at 6:36 pm.~ Present were Dick, Boe, Mark, Marie, Jody, Joyce, Ray Clark, and Glenn.

Marie gave her Director’s Report.~ In it she reported on procuring a security camera.~ The first contact will possibly charge $5000.~ Other suggested contacts were Seacoast, ADT and Cunningham Securities.

A new book drop has been ordered to be paid from the former Library Fund which will be   turned over to the Town July 1st 2011.~ The cost of $2,653.51 includes a free $900.00 cart.~ The book drop will be shipped February 17.

Dick questioned if other library expenditures from the Library Fund might include remedying the roof problem.~ On February 14, the Town Council is to receive information of roof repair.

The library staff has been trained in the AED which is installed in Marie’s office.~ Training included all ages excluding infants.
It was voted to accept Marie’s draft of a policy for use of the meeting room with additional changes Marie will make per discussion by the Trustees.

Glenn reported on a projector cost of approximately $900.~ Boe suggested having a large screen television as an alternate~to the projector.~~ Marie will take the two proposals to her staff for consideration.~ Glenn will continue to investigate possible projectors.

Jody reported on a meeting with the high school and middle school librarians and Kathy George to involve young adults in library programs.~ From the meeting came suggestions on continuing events for young adults (with food) rather than an open house and forming an advisory group of young adults.~~ High schoolers could be included to allow them to do a community service.~ Kathy will present these ideas to her current group of young adults and proceed from there.

Ray Clark gave a report from the GPLA.~ Blinds for the meeting room have been ordered with installation to be February 10.~ The new computer desk is due to arrive April 1.~ The desk has 8 places and includes one printer table.~ A book sale will be held Friday and Saturday March 25th and 26th ~ Furniture items for sale will also be listed on the library’s Facebook page.

Dick proposed incorporating in stages Stephanie Zurinski suggestions for library changes.~ It was suggested for the March meeting the Trustees prioritize a list to go to the Town with a plan.

The Trustees received a letter from Glenn~on his resignation as chair of the Trustees.~ A replacement will be selected in March.

Adjournment at 8:06.
