Meeting Minutes of Gray Recreation and Conservation Committee
December 5, 2005
Present: Dean Bennett, Carl Holmquist, Peter Martell, Matthew Bourne
Dean called the meeting to order, welcomed the group and distributed a packet of information containing the following: Agenda, Goals of the Recreation Dept, Recreation Dept budget, sample flyers/calendars created by the department, list of programs currently offered, Recreation and Open space chapter of the Gray Comprehensive plan (Aug 2003), copy of the current annual report for the town of Gray.
Dean briefly reviewed the department goals and gave an overview of department including staffing, facilities, current work flows and processes.
The group discussed that in the past there has been a liaison from the town council to the conservation and recreation committee. It was agreed that this would be a good practice to continue and will be the topic of an upcoming meeting.
The group briefly discussed the material from the Comprehensive plan. It was unclear if the August 2003 version presented was the most current version. Dean will check with the town office on this.
Dean walked the group through the budget spreadsheets, explaining the processes used to budget expenses as well as how income is designated to various accounts. It was agreed that an important step going forward for the committee was a clear understanding of the budget and the budgeting process.
Next meeting was scheduled for January 9th 6:30pm at the Town Maintenance building.
