Recreation and Conservation meeting minutes from September 18th, 2006
In Attendance: Matt Bourne, Tim Anketell, Dean Bennett, Peter Martell
Absent: Carl Holmquist, Allison Libby
Dean reviewed the fall flyers and as well as the programs being offered. Response has been very good and many of the programs are at or near capacity.
The Youth Soccer program continues to see big numbers. This year has the highest number of registrations in recent history.
The group reviewed the Eagles Nest and Willows subdivision maps for possible open space. Tim added that he had walked the Eagles Nest area and noticed that Open space ‘B’ would be the most desirable, particularly if one of the lots could be added to that space. Dean will try to coordinate a walk of this area and will attempt to have Rick Licht attend our next meeting to review the open space expectations from a design engineer’s perspective. In addition, Dean has reminded town planner Dick Cahill that he would like early notification of any new requests/sketch plans for developments. This will allow the committee to become involved at an early stage in the process. The committee is very interested in developing some area(s) of open space for recreation/conservation purposes.
The group discussed the open space at the end of McConkey road currently owned by the Al Palmer family. If possible, Peter will keep in touch with Al regarding future use of the property.
Next meeting is scheduled for October 16th 6:00pm @ Androscoggin Savings Bank.
