Dear Mr. Gellerson:
During the initial meeting of the Gray Town Office Building Committee on January 15th, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to recommend to the Town Council that the Construction Manager @ Risk (CMR) process be followed by the Town for the construction segment of the project. The specific motion was:
Jason moved that the Committee recommend to the Town Council that the CMR be the method of delivery to construct the Town Office building at Pennell. Seconded by Lew. The motion carried 7-0.
The motion was made after a thorough discussion and review of the CMR and design-bid –build construction contracting methods. Al Palmer (Principle of GP which serves as the Town engineering firm) answered questions posed by various committee members regarding the various construction methods prior to the motion being made. The Committee supports the CMR delivery method because the involvement of the Construction Manager in the design phase of the project will allow a meshing of ideas from the owner, designer and builder representatives to develop the most effective design and construction techniques for a quality project for a fair price.
The Committee will make a formal recommendation at a future Town Council meeting if that is deemed necessary.
