Crystal Lake Ice Fishing Derby

Update
The derby will be held as planned on Saturday, January 31, 2015.  The weather is expected to be less than optimal so please dress appropriately!  It's sure to be a day of fun for the whole family! Fishing, dog sled rides, horse drawn wagon rides, sledding, ice skating, and more!

The primary mission of the Crystal Lake Ice Fishing Derby is to support Maine military families, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and community schools by hosting the BEST Maine outdoor event!

The derby has been able to make some very meaningful contributions to USO-New England (designated to MAINE Military families), the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and our local community schools through Patriot Parents PTO with over $150,000 in donations provided to these amazing organizations.

The 2015 Derby promises to be filled with fun, family, and prizes galore!  Don’t miss it!!

All Ages Derby
Prizes include:

  • 1st Place: $1,000 L.L. Bean gift card
  • 2nd Place: $750.00 L.L. Bean gift card
  • 3rd Place: $500.00 L.L. Bean gift card
  • 4th Place: $250.00 L.L. Bean gift card

Kittery Trading Post Kids Derby
7AM - 2PM
Ticket Price: $5.00
Parking: $5.00 (free with pre-purchased ticket)

Dag’s Bait & Tackle is proud to present the Crystal Lake Kids Derby contest with thousands in prizes!  Son’s of American Legion Post 86 will be providing free ice fishing traps to the first 200 children’s ticket holders.

Kid Zone
presented by Gray Recreation Department

  • Sliding hill
  • Dog sled rides ( North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association)
  • Bonfire Area ( complete with hot cocoa and cider, music)
  • Horsedrawn Hay rides ( Stillbrook Acres)
  • Ice Skating Rink ( some skates will be available)
  • Snowshoes for use
  • Yellow Ribbon Tent

The response to this grass roots activity has been immense, both from the derby patrons who have participated and from the recipients of our Appreciation Packages!

Patriotic Ice Shanty Competition
Get ready to fancy up your shanty!!Decorate your shanty with a patriotic theme and try to win a Home Depot prize. The more red, white and blue the better for you!

In the event of unsafe ice conditions, an alternate date of February 28, 2015 has been reserved.
