LaVallee & Russell Added to Gray Honor Roll

At their January 17, 2017 meeting, the Gray Town Council approved the nominations of two notable Gray Citizens to the Gray Honor Roll.

Neal A. LaVallee (1930-1998) 

Neal is recognized for his many years of contributions to the Town of Gray including thirty-four years in various positions with the Gray Fire Department and service as Civil Defense Director, Road Commissioner, Public Works Director, Solid Waste Director, Wilkies Beach Committee Member, and Youth sports coach.

Sgt. James William Russell (1921-1945)

Sgt. James W. Russell was the only soldier killed in action during World War II who was a life-long Gray resident.  In 1956, Gray's new elementary school was named in his honor: the James W. Russell School.
