NYA Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Selected Coach of the Year

Congratulations Coach Jason Knight (Gray, ME)

Congratulations North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) boys varsity basketball coach Jason Knight (Gray, ME) for his selection as Coach of the Year for Class C South by the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC).

Each year, the MABC recognizes coaches throughout the state who have demonstrated excellence in their field as Coach of the Year. They are voted by their coaching peers to receive these awards. Selected coaches have given above and beyond and bring out the best in their players.

Coach Knight has been NYA’s varsity head coach for five years. This is the first season in eleven years that the team worked its way through the tournament and earned the privilege of participating in the Maine Principals’ Association Regional Semifinal Game. NYA Athletic Director Jack Hardy states, “Coach Knight is the consummate professional. He is everything that an athletic director would want to have in this position. His organizational skills go unsurpassed, and he is a tremendous teacher of the game. Our boys are always prepared for each individual competition versus various opponents and their associated game plan. What a great role model he is for our kids, and they realize how much he cares for them and the game. He is so deserving of this honor.”
