Organized firefighting began in Gray, Maine during the 1880's. Gray Rescue was formed in 1969. Gray Fire-Rescue (GFR) is a combination department providing twenty-four hour fire and medical emergency services to the Town of Gray (pop. 7,500).
Our staff is comprised of members who are Career, Part Time, Per-diem and Paid On Call. At Central Fire Station the Administrative Offices and Billing Office are open during the week Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm
Gray Fire Rescue Department is a progressive combination Fire EMS Department. We operate out of 3 Stations with a fleet of 4 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Forestry Unit, 2 Support Vehicles, 1 Regional Hazmat Trailer and 2 Ambulances.
