In Recognition For: Service to the Town of Gray

James T. Hancock (25 Feb 1845 - 4 May 1912) lived in the house just above Pennell Institute and as a young man worked in his father’s sawmill and also at his store in Gray Corner.  He was an agent for a nursery, selling apples and other stock.  He became partner with his father in the Hancock Store.  He was one of the founders of the Gray Park Assocation and remained active during its existence.  He served as Selectman a number of times.
