Sandy was born and raised in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1985. She attended classes at the University of Maine, completed Liberty Mutual Management training, and earned her Associate in Underwriting designation. She moved to Gray in 1991 with her husband, Jamie, and worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 22 years.

For most of her career, she was a Business Operations Leader, managing calculation and production of Workers’ Compensation Retrospective bills for some of the largest U.S. corporations, as well as personnel and budgets. She was promoted to a Supervising Business Analyst managing a merger, various large-scale projects, the creation of policy and procedure manuals, and system application upgrades. Sandy left Liberty Mutual to stay home with her daughter, Sara, who was raised in Gray, graduated from GNG HS in 2015, graduated from Husson University in 2019, and is currently attending Baylor School of Medicine.

Transitioning into volunteer work, Sandy joined her husband, Jamie, to help manage/coach Little League Softball for nine years, and served on the Gray Little League Board for four years continuing to help with Juniors Softball an additional year. Sandy proudly served on the team that brought the 1st All Star Little League Tournament to Gray and helped raise the funds for the Pennell Field dugouts (which Jamie helped build). She served on the inaugural Board of the GNG Youth Basketball Association, helping to set up recreational basketball for 3rd-8th grades. Sandy has volunteered as a middle school/high school chaperone in school concession stands and for GNG Project Graduation. She helped set up winter league for GNG HS field hockey, maintained statistics for GNG HS basketball, and continues to volunteer as the dugout manager/book keeper for the GNG HS softball team. She will be serving her 9th year on the GNG Baseball/Softball Golf Tournament Fundraising Committee this Spring. Sandy also volunteers at the Preble Street Kitchen.

Sandy was elected to the Town Council in 2017, served as Vice Chair in 2018, and as Chair in 2019. She was reelected for 2nd three-year term in 2020 and was selected to continue as Chair in 2020 and 2021. She was invited to serve on the Executive Committee of the Greater Portland Council of Governments in 2017-2021, serving on the Committee as the 2nd Vice President starting in 2020 and as President starting in 2021.

Sandy enjoys spending time with her family hiking, kayaking, camping and spending as much time in the outdoors as possible. She also enjoys their annual trip to Iowa to visit her very large family, as well as traveling to National Parks and new places.
