Route 26 Corridor Study

The Rt. 26 Corridor Study is a collaborative effort between the Town of Gray and MaineDOT to understand future options for the 1.6 mile segment between 26A ("by-pass") and Dry Mills.  The roots of the study began two years ago with the Town Council in an effort to ensure that the Town had a seat at the table with MaineDOT to provide input on changes that may be contemplated and to explore the implications of additional commercial development.

In the fall of 2013, both the Town and MaineDOT entered into a formal agreement to jointly fund the $40,000 study which included hiring a consultant, examine existing conditions (including intersections), and determine the traffic implications of various future development scenarios.  The objective was to ensure that the Town and State agreed on the long term vision of this segment of Rt. 26 and enable informed decisions regarding future land use.
