Projects & Planning

The Town of Gray is currently bustling with several projects that are not only aimed at enhancing the community, but are also in alignment with the voter-approved Comprehensive Plan from 2020. This strategic plan serves as a guiding framework for Gray’s development and sets the vision for a prosperous and sustainable future. Please keep reading for an overview of current projects, or use the left-hand side menu to learn more about individual projects.

One of the significant initiatives underway is the project dedicated to revitalizing Gray Village. This endeavor reflects the collective vision of the residents and their desire to create a vibrant and welcoming town center with a mixture of housing and businesses in a walkable environment. The expansion of playing fields near Gray Village is another current project that will allow the town to meet the growing demand for sports and outdoor activities, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for the community.

Tying together these efforts is the Village Area Loop Trail, a walking trail around Gray Village. Extending the existing trail network, is part of the town’s vision of creating accessible pathways that encourage outdoor activity, promote connectivity, and enhance the town's natural beauty. Also along the trail is the pocket park on Yarmouth Road, with a covered seating area and edible gardens.

Environmental sustainability and the revitalization of underutilized areas is also part of the town’s development plans. The town received an EPA Brownfields assessment grant in 2022 for identification of sites that may have contamination that would impact future uses.  By identifying these sites, the town is not only ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents, but also fulfilling a commitment to responsible land use, economic growth, and environmental stewardship.

By aligning these projects with the comprehensive vision set forth by the residents, the town is strategically advancing toward its desired future, fostering community well-being, sustainable development, and a thriving environment for all its residents.
