Cassidy J. Grover Appreciated!

On May 25th Good Samaritan and Gray resident Cassidy J. Grover was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Sheriff of Cumberland County for saving the life of a man who was overdosed in his car.

The incident happened in March as Ms. Grover was heading into work as a teller at the KeyBank branch at 1 Monument Square in Portland, and spotted a man slumped over his steering wheel at an intersection.  Realizing that something was wrong, she immediately called 911. With guidance by phone, Cassidy quickly helped emergency responders diagnose it as an overdose situation and confirmed the man was not breathing.  She and another passerby pulled him from the car and were able to revive him just prior to the arrival of the local authorities.

The certificate of appreciation reads in part “…Thank you for taking the time to help a man in Portland that had overdosed in his vehicle.  It is clear that had you not gotten involved, he would have surely died.  It is this kind of selflessness, this kind of understanding of the human condition that is an inspiration to us all and makes a significant difference in who we are as a community.”

Thanks for stepping up to help out, Cassidy!
