2022 Mural Design Contest Now Open

Help create new works of public art for Gray!

UPDATE: This contest has been extended to June 13, 2022. 

Gray’s Community Economic Development Committee (CEDC) will award up to three winning entries in this year’s mural contest. One mural will be 3 feet by 4 feet, and the two other murals will be larger.  All will be on display in the Village Center.    

Your design or conceptual sketch must be original (submissions using copyrighted photos, images, or slogans will be disqualified). Suggested outdoor themes include Libby Hill Forest Trails, seasonal images of Gray (e.g., ice fishing), The Blueberry Festival, soccer tournaments, pollinators, and the CEDC’s birdhouse project.

The contest is open to all ages. You may submit more than one entry.

Please know that all submissions will become property of the CEDC. Entries will be accepted until May 15, 2022.  Winning design(s) will each receive $100.   

Winning design(s) will be painted in summer 2022 by the winning artist(s), with technical assistance by CEDC and/or other interested community members. CEDC will provide paint supplies and choice of colors. 

Please send an electronic image* of your design to cedc@graymaine.org. Please include your: first and last name, phone number, town, parent/guardian contact information (if applicable), and include (if applicable) your grade level (elementary, middle school, high school, or college).  

* If your artwork is hand-drawn or painted, please keep the original artwork and send us an electronic photo.
