Gray Fire Rescue
Gray Fire Rescue and the Red Cross team up for smoke alarm installation.

The Gray Fire Rescue, in partnership with the Red Cross, is igniting a new program for Gray residents.

Smoke alarms, which are good for ten years, can be installed in your home on Sunday, November 12, 2023, for free.

Do you already have alarms in your home? The Red Cross can check and replace any old alarms or batteries.

You can sign up for a free smoke alarm or smoke alarm check by:

  • Filling out a Smoke Alarm Request Form at the Gray Public Library, the Clerk’s office in the Town Office, or the Gray Fire Rescue Station.
  • Completing the form online.
  • Emailing Gray Fire Rescue Chief Kurt Elkanich at kelkanich@graymaine.org
  • Emailing the Red Cross at tova.zsampar@redcross.org or calling 207-844-9132.

Smoke alarms are essential for ensuring the safety of a house's occupants, can provide early detection of fires, reduce risk of injury or death, and protect your property.
