West Gray Road in Gray will see multi-month-long construction activities starting this week, with regular construction commencing the week of April 22. Traffic delays are expected, and travelers are encouraged to find alternate routes if possible.

In 2023, the Gray Water District was the recipient of a $1.4 million Congressional Direct Spending Grant from Senator Susan Collins’ office. The grant is to be used for the district’s Turnpike Crossing / West Gray Road main replacement project. This project aims to replace the aging main both under the turnpike on Route 26/Shaker Road and on West Gray Road (including Wheeler Road). There will also be valve work done on Liberty Ave. This is a $2.2 million project for which the Gray Water District will be bonding $700,000.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while the Gray Water District completes these much-needed upgrades to the water system. Please feel free to call the district at 207-657-3500 with any questions.
