Public Notice - Gray Water District - Chlorine in Water

faucet

Please be advised that the Gray Water District experienced a malfunction in the water system causing a signal interruption that allowed an abnormal shift in water levels. That allowed water to come in contact with a miscellaneous bacteria known as coliform which was detected in monthly regulatory samples. In order to disinfect the water storage tank and the distribution mains to and from the tank, the Gray Water District has introduced a small amount of chlorine to the system. It is not harmful and does not jeopardize the quality of the water. However, it has a distinct taste that may be noticeable. This will take place for a short period of time and is anticipated to be flushed from the system by the first part of next week.

This step is necessary to protect customers from possible contamination by a harmful bacteria.

The Gray Water District extends their apologies for the inconvenience.
