Public Notice of Second Reading and Public Hearing of Building Code Ordinance Amendments

Notice is hereby given that the Gray Town Council will hold a Second Reading and Public Hearing on March 15, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. to consider amendments to the Building Code Ordinance (Chapter 201). The meeting will be conducted virtually via Zoom videoconferencing, and the meeting link and agenda will be posted to www.graymaine.org. Proposed changes to Chapter 201 include: Clarifying the Town’s responsibility for residential electrical inspections; amending the applicable building code from Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA) to the State-required Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC); eliminating specific Town standards for foundations and other elements with applicable State requirements; and amending that appeals of the Code Enforcement Officer’s decision are filed with the Gray Zoning Board of Appeals as established in 402.9.2 of the Zoning Ordinance.
