Public Notice: Proposed Amendments to the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance

Notice is hereby given that the Town of Gray is proposing amendments to the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 403). The Gray Town Council will hold a first reading on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Public comments will be received at the meeting which will be held at 7:00 P.M. at Gray Town Hall, 24 Main Street in Gray.

The proposed changes to the Shoreland Zoning Ordinace (Chapter 403) include:

  • Bring Gray’s SZO in line with current State standards
  • Adopt new expansion options for non-conforming structures of record
  • Adopt height limits into local Ordinance (have already been effective via State)
  • Changes to uses table
  • Clarify front (road) setback requirements
  • Remove Timber Harvesting standards (have been regulated by State for many years)
  • Incorporate new clearing standards required by State
  • Incorporate new re-vegetation standards required by State
  • More specific hazard tree standards required by State
  • Add/adjust definitions
