The Town of Gray today announced the resignation of Nathaniel Rudy, who has served as Town Manager since March 2021. Mr. Rudy will be stepping down from his role on September 8, 2023.

Mr. Rudy recently accepted a position as a Foreign Service Officer with the United States Department of State and is required to relocate to Washington, D.C. on short notice. “It has been my honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Gray, and I am eager for the opportunity to serve the United States in this new role,” said Mr. Rudy.

In his tenure as Town Manager, Mr. Rudy has assisted the Town Council with projects aimed at enhancing the community in alignment with the voter-approved Comprehensive Plan from 2020, such as leading the Gray Village economic development planning initiative. Among Mr. Rudy’s other achievements, he secured a $500,000 EPA Brownfields assessment grant to identify sites in Gray with contamination that would impact future uses.

“We thank Nate for his efforts on behalf of the Town and wish him success as he continues his public service at the federal level,” said Town Council Chair, Krista Chappell. “At this time the Town Council will turn its attention to finalizing a revised budget and warrant articles for the September 9 Town Meeting and begin the process of hiring a new Town Manager to continue advancing a shared vision for Gray.”

The Town Council is initiating a search for a new Town Manager, and an internal and external search will be conducted to identify a suitable candidate to fill the role full-time. Before Mr. Rudy’s departure, the Council will appoint an interim manager to oversee daily operations during this transitional period.
