Earth Day Recycle Bin Giveaway

Thanks, ecomaine!

ecomaine set up an education table at Gray Recycling and Solid Waste facility in celebration of Earth Day on April 23 to inform residents about where our trash goes and how to recycle right. ecomaine gave away 50 recycling bins and Gray resident Rick Harmon received a free ecomaine t-shirt made in part from recycled PET plastic in a special drawing conducted at the conclusion of the event.

Did you know that Gray is an owner community of nonprofit ecomaine, which combusts our trash to produce enough electricity to power 15,000 homes? This also reduces our trash to 10 percent of its original volume before ecomaine places it in its ashfill in the form of stabilized ash. As an owner community, Gray-New Gloucester schools are eligible to apply for individual grants valued up to $5,000 as part of the School Recycling Grants program. The application deadline is Oct. 31, 2016. Learn more at ecomaine.org.
